JENNISUE
JESSEN
Dr. Jennisue Jessen is a distinguished subject matter expert with over 25 years of experience in the field of human trafficking. Her remarkable journey, from being sold into the sex trade at age 4 to becoming a beacon of hope and change, is nothing short of inspiring. Through the years of brutality, justice was woven into her DNA. Rather than being defined by her traumatic childhood, Jennisue uses her lived experience to inform and ignite cultural and systemic impact in the counter-trafficking movement.
Jennisue's expertise extends beyond her own personal experiences. She was appointed by President Trump to a 2-year term serving on the U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, where she influenced federal counter-trafficking policy. Her unique perspective and passion for justice make her a sought- after speaker at professional conferences and events. Jennisue's transformative journey and commitment to combating trafficking serve as a powerful reminder that no matter the circumstances, we can turn trauma into triumphant joy.
Jennisue gained a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership in December 2021 when she defended her dissertation titled, New Pathways: Inspiring Empowerment through Trauma-Informed Educational Models that Promote Whole-Brain Integration. Because of her global impact, she has also been awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Divinity.
Jennisue is the Founder & CEO of Compass 31, an international counter-trafficking organization that provides a holistic model of restoration for individuals who have escaped from commercial xploitation. Jennisue co-created Priceless Cube, an educational tool to prevent trafficking through education. Thus far, national leaders from more than 40 different countries have been equipped to use Priceless Cube to effectively combat human trafficking among high-risk populations in their own countries. So far, her work has impacted more than 250,000 individuals across 43 nations.
GEORGE
KARKANIS
After years spent in IT departments and computer science, George Karkanis realized that he was brought to this world to work with people, not devices. He pursued a new career in the field of psychology and currently works as a forensic psychologist and behavioral analyst. Apart from therapy with different types of victims and offenders, his scientific focus is on behavioral analysis, profiling and information elicitation. He specializes in interviewing techniques and analysis of linguistics, paralinguistics and non-verbal behaviors for profiling purposes and truthfulness and credibility assessments. He studies the role of Emotional Intelligence (EI) in interviewing and investigative procedures in the Criminal Justice System and he is certified to administer the B-level psychometric EI tests MSCEIT and EQ-i 2.0/EQ360.
After his first counter-trafficking outreach in the streets of Athens in 2012, George heard the voice of the voiceless and saw the ones who don't feel seen. Ever since, he has been actively involved in setting the captives free, addressing passionately the criminal dimension in this line of work.
He has developed criminally-informed programs, which are implemented by Hagar Ministries, a counter-trafficking organization in Athens that he serves as co-founder and General Director. As a registered member of the European Freedom Network, he provides consulting and training on interviewing survivors and traffickers, profiling and analysis of criminal behavior to counter-trafficking organizations across Europe.
George considers himself a social entrepreneur; he invests in people. As such, his path leads him to academic teaching to raise the next generation of professionals. He has been invited to give guest lectures on the topics of prevention of trafficking and the use of EI in behavioral analysis for forensic contexts for multiple Master's programs at City Unity College, Greece, Leeds Beckett University, UK, and Liberty University, USA.
